On 20 October 2025, from 13:00 to 17:00 in Los Angeles, USA, the Urban Mobility Open Payments Forum organised the workshop “Driving Passenger Adoption of Open-Loop Payments through Strategy and Engagement.”
As part of the UITP North America Conference 2025, 20 to 22 October 2025, the Forum hosted a dedicated in-person workshop focusing on the adoption of open-loop payments in public transport systems.
Transitioning to open-loop payments is a significant investment for transit agencies. However, its long-term success depends on one essential factor: passenger adoption. This workshop brought the conversation to the North American region with a strong emphasis on strategies that drive rider engagement and uptake.
