How can public transport operators and authorities work together to enable seamless open-loop payments across different networks? This question will be at the heart of an interactive workshop organised by the Urban Mobility Open Payments Forum on 28 October 2026, from 10:00 to 17:00, in Montreal, Canada.
As cities and transport networks move towards open-loop payment systems, integration across multiple operators brings new challenges. Beyond technical interoperability, successful implementation requires organisations to consider their shared objectives, areas requiring coordination, and decisions that can remain under individual responsibility.
Held alongside the UITP North America Forum 2026 (28–30 October), the workshop “Open-Loop Payment Integration Across Operators” will provide an opportunity for public transport stakeholders to exchange experiences, compare different implementation approaches and discuss practical challenges and potential solutions.
The workshop forms part of the Forum’s one-year project on Open-Loop Payment in Multi-Operator Enrivonments, which examines the organisational, commercial, technological and legal dimensions of multi-operator integration, with the aim of identifying possible solutions and next steps.
